NYC Color Run 2012

OMG Ya’ll the Color Run was OFF.THE.HOOK!
Seriously we had such a freaking blast!
NJ Color Runners prepare yourself.
So I didn’t want to photo bomb this post so I made some collages of my Color Run pictures.
Where to start?
Early last week I got my pre-race email and in it it said that we had to pick up our race packets Thursday or Friday before the race if possible. I ventured into Brooklyn on Friday after work. I left work at 2:45pm and I thought I would get there by like 3:15pm. Well apparently everyone and their mother was going to Brooklyn because I didn’t get there till 4:45pm. Did I mention that they were only handing out race packets till 5pm as per the email.
So I get there and I took Lobsters license with me because he was driving and he double parked so he couldn’t exactly go in with me. Well in the pre-race email they said that if you were picking up someone else’s packet you needed to have the singed waiver. Yeah I didn’t have that. I get to the front of the line explain my situation and since I had his license they let me have his stuff. I walked through the line of vendors and got a Color Run tank top some sunnies -believe me you will want some kind of eye wear- and a Flip Belt and headed back to the car. I will fill ya’ll in on the Flip Belt later this week. Let me just say runners you will love it!
After we got our packets we headed to L&B Spumoni Gardens for dinner.
OMG if ya ever go to Brooklyn you HAVE GOT TO GO there!
It has got to be one of the best pizzas I have EVER had in my life.
No lie.

Saturday morning I was up and ready to go by 6am. We headed into Brooklyn and got to the site with plenty of time before the run. We walked around all the tents and then lined up for the run.

There were so many people. They did the run in waves we were in the 5th wave and there were easily 2 more behind us. We were off and running.

Let me just throw this out there this was the first time I have ran since the 8K back in April. I didn’t “train” for this run one step and I have to say I ran the entire thing and I felt great! I couldn’t tell you how long it took us because this was not a timed run and to be honest I didn’t time myself either.

After we finished we walked around the tents again and hung out for the after party. It was a HUGE party with a DJ and dancing and just a lot of fun! Every 30 minutes or so they would throw out packets of color and then count down and everyone would throw them up and there was a big color cloud floating. It was really a fun time. I can not wait for this Saturday in NJ!

After we were done we went to the truck and tried to clean up as much as we cool. THANK GOD I brought extra clothes and I told Lobster to bring clothes for him. We changed and went to get breakfast. After we ate we hit up Coney Island for a bit since we were in the area. Why not right?

We were not the only color runners with this idea. We saw so many other paint covered people. We all waved at each other as we walked by. It was like we were part of a cult.

From Coney Island we hit the pavement and headed back to NJ. We decided we wanted to stop and pick up some turkey burgers and salad stuff from a local place and as we were walking out someone says to us…

“Hey did you do the Color Run?”

Mind you we were STILL covered in paint and we both had on shirts that said The Color Run.

I wanted to say no we like to throw paint on each other and walk around town like this.

I didn’t though. I bit my tongue.
People. Ha! I tell ya!

Overall we had a BLAST at the NYC Color Run and can not wait for Saturday for the NJ one!

  Hugs, Nikki

We did the Color Run in NYC on Saturday too – what an awesome time! Just saw that they added NYC to the list of locations for next year – cannot wait to do it again, this time with my kids.
