Adventures in Homeownership Hot Water Heater Edition…

Happy Monday Friends!
How was everyones weekend?
Mine was GREAT!
Well Thursday through Saturday was great Sunday was eventful to say the least.
Sunday morning Mr. Big Truck and I got up and he headed out. He was planning to work in his garden and do some stuff at his place. I was gonna get myself together and head out to the gym. I needed to clean my water bottle so I turn on the sink wait for the hot water to apear…
still waiting…
REALLY?!?! WTF Where is the hot water?
Turn off the sink walk to where the hot water heater is and find it submurged in water.

Yup that is how my Sunday started.
Fun right?
I was so flipping annoyed.

I called Mr. Big Truck.
No answer.

My phone starts to ring and it is Mr. Big Truck. I didn’t even say hello I picked up the phone and said..

“So I’m gonna guess it’s NOT a good thing for my hot water heater to be sitting in water right?”

He said “No thats never a good sign, I’m in the u-turn I’m coming back.”

Melt my heart right there that boy did!

He gets back to my house and we are looking at the situation which was not a good one.
Picture this, I’m sitting on the floor on the verge of a breakdown because I automatically assume the worse and am thinking I am gonna have to spend THOUSANDS of dollars to get this thing fixed.  Well Mr. Big Truck is working his magic figuring things out. He whips out his phone checks prices on a new heater while I am on the phone with my mom and Ray.

MOM: Hello daughter…
ME: What are you and Ray doing today?
(Notice I didn’t even say hi ma! Typical)
MOM: Well Ray was talking about going out on the motorcycle.
ME: Well how about you guys come over and help me and Mr. Big Truck install a new hot water heater?
MOM: What?!?!

Needless to say Mom and Ray did not go out on the motorcycle.

Mr. Big Truck and I set out to Loews to get some supplies and when we got back all 4 of us set to work.

What you guys don’t solder pipes together on a regular basis?
Apparently Ray does!

While the guys worked Mom and I played because ya know thats what we do best!

Always trying to make light of a bad situation!

I also played with the head light!

6 hours later I had a new hot water heater…

Mr. Big Truck and Ray went back to work and fixed that.
THANK GOD they know what they are doing. Or at least they acted like they knew what they were doing so I wouldn’t freak out.
Seriously I would have been lost!

By 5:30ish we were all done. By we I mean the guys were all done installing my new hot water heater. Mom and Ray left, Mr. Big Truck hung out for a little bit then he went on his merry little way. I had some errands I NEEDED to get done before the week started.

Like I said it was an eventful day to say the least and honestly if it weren’t for Mr. Big Truck, Mom and Ray it would have cost me way more than what it actually did.

For that I am so thankful!

I closed out the night watching the ACM’s and man what a great show that was!

Hope ya’ll had a great weekend!

  Hugs, Nikki
