Well with the exception of the day we brought her home. That little monkey sure does know how to make you feel bad for her.
Saturday morning when I got up with her I was given the cold shoulder.
We went about the day and she was up hopping around on her 3 legs as she was used to it. The Dr. told me to take her on short 3-5 minute walks a few times a day and try to encourage her to put her foot down and start to put some weight on the leg. Since she has been used to hopping around with her foot up it may time some time. I was also told to make sure I iced her leg after exercising it.
By Saturday afternoon she was up to her usual antics. I had left her in the living room while I was showering and getting ready to go to the party. When I came back out I found my sneaker had be dragged from the door to her bed. She was rather proud of her accomplishment.
Here we are 4 days post op and I have taken her off the pain pills she was on seeing how she is still on the pain patch and is not showing signs of pain. Mr. Big Truck noticed some bruising on her neck one day while we had her cone of shame off. We called the vet and he told us that’s where they do the pre op blood work and that’s what that is from. It could also be from her ramming the cone into things. She is a pro at ramming it into the wall and ground when she goes out to go to the bathroom.
Overall we am VERY pleased with the way she is healing. She is slowly starting to put her foot down and every now and again you will see limp off it. In time I think and hope she will be using it full time.
