I have not given the girls much blog time lately so I thought today I would take some time and brag on them a bit. I love my girls and it’s no secret that they are family members and not just pets.
Zoe is now 6 years old. It’s crazy to think that I have had her since she was 6 months. I got Zoe on a whim. See I was single and looking for a dog. I had it set in my mind that I wanted a boxer after growing up with one all my life. One day my mom called me and asked me if I was still looking for a dog. Well yes actually I was. She said that one of the guys she worked with had a 6 month old Chihuahua that he was looking for a new home for. My immediate question was, “why is she nasty?” I knew that the general consensus was that Chihuahuas were typically mean and nasty. I sure as heck did not want a dog like that. Mom said that her friend said she was sweet as all get out and the only reason he was looking for a new home for her was because his son who he got the dog for was allergic to dogs. My next question as terrible as this may sound was, “is she ugly?” I also know sometimes Chihuahuas can be. Mom said no not at all and she immediately sent me a picture message of her. I had to see that she was not ugly. Terrible I know. I said I would take her. Why not? I felt bad that she was going to be homeless. Whats the worst that could have happened? She would turn out to be some terror? Memorial Day Weekend of 2008 I brought Zoe home and she has been my little monkey ever since.
Zoe has been a really good dog to me. She is always up for snuggling and I have to say she really is the sweetest little thing you have ever seen. She has quite the personality on her too. She is not destructive at all. The “worst” thing she does is drag my shoes around the house. I remember the first day I came home from work after bringing her home I walked in and noticed all my shoes were missing from the back hallway. I was confused. I walked down the hallway and into the living room and found my shoes thrown across the room with Zoe sitting there proudly.
She loves to give kisses, is awesome with kids, loves to snuggle up with me or stuffed animals, she has taken great to Rylie when I brought her home. She’s a little trooper and goes for 5 mile walks like its no ones business. She rarely barks -well at least she rarely did until Rylie came into the picture- and is happy to sleep the day away. I really hit the jackpot with her. Now don’t get me wrong I torment her. I torment her something fierce too. See she HATES the water. Flat out HATES it. I make sure to take her to the lake in the summer and throw her in with her life jacket and then let my father at her. Really I do love her and she is well taken care of.
