I know I have been a little MIA lately but life has been a bit hectic. The last 6 or so days have been non stop with things going on and today I finally found some time to sit and write. I wanted to talk about our vacation back in February.
February 22 through March 9 Mr. Big Truck and I were on vacation. I actually talked about our second week of vacation March 2-9 here. Today I wanted to talk about the first week of vacation February 22 – March 1.
The first part of our vacation we were set to go to FL to visit my Dad and Molly.
Saturday morning my mom picked us up and took us to the air port. We had a 11:ooam flight. We got there with plenty of time to check in get through security and relax a bit before we took off. We get there and walk up to the ticketing counter and see that our flight was delayed a bit. Not a big deal. The ticketing agent asked us for our boarding passes and ID’s. That is when it hit me. MY LICENSE WAS AT HOME IN OUR LOCK BOX! Never in my life was I so happy that a flight was delayed. I called my mom who was on her way back to her house. Thankfully she had not gotten past our house yet. I told her I needed her to get my license and bring it to me. Really Nik? I have never in all my life gone to the airport without my ID. Mr. Big Truck and I sat down and waited for mom to come back. Again I have never been thankful for a delayed flight before. Mom dropped off my license we made our way through security and got to our gate and we had plenty of time to spare. Since our flight was delayed by the time we got to FL and finally got to my dads it was early evening so we just hung around the house caught up with Dad and Molly and just relaxed.
Sunday Mr. Big Truck and I decided we would take advantage of the gorgeous weather and go to Jonathan State Park. We wound up doing a 5 mile walk around the park. It was so nice to feel the sun on our skin. This winter has been rough and this was exactly what we needed.
After we wondered around the park we decided we would head down to West Palm Beach and wonder around City Place for a bit. It’s like an outdoor mall with a bunch of restraunts and stores. We grabbed lunch and just had a really nice time togehter.
Monday morning we got up and took a walk to the local CVS we needed some odds and ends. When we got back Molly, Dad, Mr. Big Truck and I headed to the Florida Oceanagraphic for the afternoon. Molly volunteers there when school aged kids come for field trips. We walked around and saw all the sting rays, and other wild life that they had. We also took a little nature walk that is offered there.
Mr. Big Truck was totally in his element with all the fish. He kept pointing out all the different types there. It was a nice day out with my parents.
Tuesday we decided to get up really early and hit the road and take a ride down to the Everglades. Such a great day! We were up and on the road by 6am. Mind you it was a solid 3 hour drive from my Dads to Shark Valley National Park which is part of the Everglades. We decided since I was 26 weeks pregnant at the time it would be best if we took the tram to see everything.
Mr. Big Truck was all about the alligators. I was going through all the pictures that he took and the majority of them were of alligators. No joke.
At one point during the tram ride we stopped at this overlook and were able to get off the tram and walk around a bit.
There was a little trail we walked down then we walked up to the top of the look out tower and took some pictures.
After we got back from the tram ride we hit the road and stopped for lunch. The little place we stopped at also did air boat rides. Mr. Big Truck and I decided when in Rome do as the Romans do right? So we hopped on the airboat and went for a ride!
We saw more alligators along the way. Who would have thunk it!?!
After all our Everglades fun we hit the road to Ft. Lauderdale to meet up with one of Mr. Big Trucks friends. We did dinner with him on the water and then made the trek back to my dads. It was a long day but a fun day!
Wednesday we decided we would take advantage of the gorgeous weather and go out on the boat!
Thursday we decided we would hang around locally because we had to be up early on Friday to head to Dallas. That is another post in and of itself though.
