Hey friends! How are you? A lot has been going on around these parts so lets dive in and play catch up shall we?
Remember how I gave y’all a 34 week update? Well here I am sitting at 35 weeks and 4 days and where am I? Home on maternity leave. It started a few days early and to be honest I am more than okay with that. Well here is how it all went down…
Sunday Mr. Big Truck and I went to church as per the norm and then we went by my mom’s house to help them with some stuff around their place since we will be having the babies dedication celebration in their back yard. Mr. Big Truck and Raymond worked outside while mom and I did some stuff in the house and then we ran to this Italian place where we will end up having some stuff catered from. After we ate dinner I put my foot up on Rays lap and he noticed my feet and ankles were swollen. I was not super surprised as I was on my feet during the day and honestly I did not have the most supportive shoes on. We went home and called it a night. Monday morning I got up and got myself together as per the norm for work. I went about my business although I did notice that my hands and feet were tingly. I also had a headache all day and I was cramp-y. I was talking to my sister-in-law who works in a doctor’s office and mentioned to her what was going on and she said I would probably be okay but suggested calling the doctor just in case. We hung up and I talked to Mr. Big Truck about it and he agreed so we called. The doctor was not too surprised that I had swelled but once he heard that I was tingly and had a headache all day he said go to the hospital and get checked out just incase. Off we went. We got there and got all hooked up to the monitors and had my blood pressure taken and all that fun jazz. I was hooked up to the monitors for a good hour and my blood pressure went from the first reading of 113/58 to the last reading of 97/55. The babies heart rate was ranging between 125 to 175 bpm. The nurse who happened to be the same nurse we had when we were in for decreased fetal movement was rather impressed with my blood pressure. The ruled out preeclampsia and said that I would be fine and to go home and follow-up with my doctor Tuesday. We did not get home until after 11pm. We were exhausted.
Tuesday morning rolled around and I stayed home from work. I am so glad I decided to stay home. Why? Well Little Miss decided that she needed NEEDED to sit on my sciatic nerve all day. NOT FUN! It hurt so bad that when I walked from my living room to my bedroom where the bathroom is I was in tears. TEARS. Needless to say I was not a happy camper. By the time Mr. Big Truck got home from work I as limping around from the pain. He said to me that I looked like a 80 year old woman and I told him that I felt like an 80 year old woman! We went to our scheduled belly check and all was well. I am still swollen and still dealing with the sciatic pain and my doctor told me I could make an appointment with an orthopedic doctor if I wanted. I may wait a day or so and see if the pain subsides before I go that route. While we were in the office the doctor asked me if I had our bags packed and ready to go? I said no not yet and he laughed at me and said ya may wanna get that done. Well okay then! I will be taking care of that over the next few days. With all that is going on with my sciatic nerve pain I was going to finish out this week and start maternity leave on Monday May 5th but needless to say it has started already. The next few weeks are going to be interesting I am sure. I will not lie I would be totally content with Little Miss showing up anytime after the 37 week mark granted I know it is out of my hands.
In other news: I have washed all of the clothes Little Miss has and folded them all and put them into pile sizes. I have come the the conclusion we have a TON of onesies but no bottoms for her in the newbor or 0-3 month range. I decided that I needed to do some shopping. Luckily The Children’s Place was running a sale recently and I picked up a few things. They should be here this week!
I also ordered a new diaper bag from a friend of mine who does Thirty-One and let me tell you it’s perfect for Little Miss and myself. Mr. Big Truck on the other hand is not super thrilled about it but he will be a good sport though.
The girls have been super cuddly too. I think they know something is going on and something BIG is going on.
So yeah for the most part we are about as ready as we will ever be for Little Miss to show up. I have a few odds and ends I need to take care of before she is born but if they do not get done it is not the end of the world. We have maternity pictures coming up on Sunday and again the following Saturday with two friends of ours. I am excited to see how those come out. I am also in the process of trying to find invitation for the babies dedication since that is scheduled for the end of June. I also gotta start looking at birth announcements. And let the never ending baby related list begin! Ha!
