Finding Our Church Home

Mr. Big Truck and I have been going to our church since November. We have really come to love the church and all the people we have met along the way. Back in January I posted about a sermon that Pastor Dan did on Overcoming Difficult Situations that really hit home with me. Over the past few months there have been many different sermons I have loved and many different topics we learned about that I really enjoyed. Right now we are in the middle of a 16 weeks series on Ephesians and I am LOVING it.

Mr. Big Truck and I have decided that Sayer Woods Bible Church is our church home. We really enjoy going to service every week and we love all the people we have met in the past 7 months. Mr. Big Truck plays softball for the church and helps out on work mornings when he is not working and I have decided that I am going to get involved with the worship ministry at church. Little Miss and I go to the softball games and I am meeting more and more people which is nice.

We have meet all kinds of awesome people and forged some amazing friendships with people as well. Mr. Big Truck and I have become good friends with our Associate Pastor, Pastor Dan,  his wife, Missy and their kids. As a matter of fact Pastor Dan is doing the dedication service for Little Miss at the end of the month. We also go to their small group and because of that group I have become friends with another woman Amanda in the church who I have really come to enjoy talking to on a daily basis. Ironically Amanda works the night shift so the night I went into labor her and I texted all night long.

Over the past 7 months Mr. Big Truck and I have become more and more active with the church as well. We participated in a study called Self Confrontation. We both really enjoyed what we learned and we can not wait for the second half of the class to start up in the fall. When I was in the hospital after delivering Little Miss one of our pastors, Pastor Angelo came to visit us as he heard that we were there. Pastor Dan wanted to come however he was sick so he could not make it.

Not long ago I noticed in one of the bulletin that there was a “Secret Encourager” women’s encouragement group going on. I knew I needed to be a part of it. What it entailed was being paired up with someone and you were to encourage her for 6 weeks. You were asked to pray for your partner and shower her with love and encouragement over the 6 weeks. At the end of the 6 weeks there was going to be a reveal party where you would find out who was your secret encourager.  My secret encourager was amazing through out the entire thing. We all had to fill out a little questionnaire to let our secret encourager know a little about us. We were asked what specific prayer requests we had and anything else we wanted to share. When the 6 weeks came to an end the reveal party was set for May 17th. As you know I had Little Miss on May 8th, I got discharged on May 12th and I was determined to go to the reveal on May 17th. On May 17th I packed up Little Miss and myself and headed to the church to find out who the wonderful person who was praying for me and my family. I was SHOCKED to find out it was a wonderful woman by the name of Nancy. Ironically enough Nancy and I started to become friends in the church. Now obviously she knew she was praying and encouraging me however I had no idea! When I found out I literally started to cry. I have come to know Nancy and her daughter Kristen and I love them both. Nancy is also the head of the worship ministry which I am going to be getting involved with. Crazy how God works right?!!?

Since Mr. Big Truck and I have started going to Sayer Woods in November we have only missed one Sunday service which was Mother’s Day when I was in the hospital. Ironically enough the sermon was on Proverbs 31 woman and I was actually sad I missed it. Thankfully services are recorded and I was able to get a copy of it and I am so glad I did because it was awesome! I have actually listened to it a few times. We are getting ready to head to the lake this weekend for Father’s Day and for a little get together that my Dad and Molly are throwing for Little Miss and Mr. Big Truck so we will be missing this weeks service as well. I am sad but at the same time I am looking forward to going to my old church home. Finding a church to call home has been something that I have been wanting to do for a while so I am super excited we finally found our home.

  Hugs, Nikki
