Baby Free Weekend

Hey Friends!

I have so much to fill y’all in on it is not even funny.

Lets start with the first weekend in March shall we? Thursday March 5th we got slammed with 8 inches of snow. Mr. Big Truck, #babybigtruck and I all wound up home with a snow day. We had a great time together. Friday morning we packed up #babybigtruck dropped her off at school and hit the road running!

After we dropped her off we set out for Rochester NY to go visit Jen and her sweet family on our way to Buffalo! We were on the road by 10am and we pulled into Jens driveway about 4ish if I remember correctly.

The entire drive up Mr. Big Truck and I chatted about life and what we want to do around the house, how we will eventually move out of the house we are in now and our plans for the future. As we got closer to Jens house I started to notice the icicles on the houses. I have legit never seen such icicles before in my life. Seriously they were so THICK and went from roof to the ground! Crazy. Just another reason I will never live somewhere up north. We got to Jens and hung out for a few hours. It was so nice to sit and chat with her face to face. We have not seen each other since she came down to Jersey when I was pregnant! I got to play with little Miss Brooke and I got to snuggle with Mr Bradley. I also got my feet attacked by Holly.

We left Jens and finished our dive to Buffalo. We stopped for something to eat at Applebee’s and while we were there we played some couples trivia which I have to say Mr. Big Truck and I know each other pretty darn well! We checked into our hotel and relaxed after a long day of driving.

Saturday we got up and set out to find breakfast. We went to this pancake house and I got an apple cinnamon waffle which was AMAZING! I do not typically get waffles but when I read the description and it had the apples IN it I was all for it! After we ate we decided we would take a ride to Niagara Falls. I have seen them from the Canada side but never from the American side, and Mr. Big Truck had never seen them.

We stopped at a local Walgreens looking for a hat and gloves because neither of us packed that stuff because we were not planning to go to the falls. I also picked up a $15 dollar puffer jacket which was a lifesaver at the falls!

We got there and bundled up. We had taken Mr. Big Trucks truck to Buffalo and thankfully he had his work bibs in there so I put those bad boys on too. I may have looked like a goober but I will tell you one thing, I was warm!

It was really neat to see the falls in the winter. It has been such a rough winter that even some of the falls were frozen! Crazy!

We made our way back to the truck and went back to the hotel to chill out for a bit before the concert. We got ourselves ready to go and set out to Hobby Lobby before we went to dinner. We picked up a new picture for the hallway and some decorations for #babigtrucks birthday party.

We went to this place called Pearl Street Brewery for dinner. Now I am not a big read meat-eater but for some reason I ordered the pot roast and let me just tell you it was one of the best pot roasts I have ever had! Even Mr. Big Truck liked it. He ordered a beef stroganoff and I stole a bit and man it was good!

Finally we made our way to the arena for the concert! What concert? GARTH BROOKS! Mr. Big Truck and I are big country fans and both of us have always wanted to see him and finally we have!

Of course we took selfies while we were waiting.

The show was awesome! Garth played some old stuff and some new stuff and of course Friends in Low Places. One of my favorite songs of all time. About halfway through the show Trisha Yearwood came out and did a small set too and she was just as good!

After the show we went back to our hotel room and just relaxed. As much as I love #babybigtruck I have to say it was so nice to have some time away. Mr. Big Truck and I both needed time to reconnect as a couple. We couldn’t have done it without the help of Mom and Ray as they had #babybigtruck for the weekend. Thanks guys!

Sunday morning we got up stopped at Cracker Barrel for breakfast and hit the road. We got home and I went to get the baby and then we called it a night.

Like I said it was a much-needed and welcomed weekend away. I won’t lie I am looking forward to the next time we get a weekend away again!

  Hugs, Nikki
