Long time no talk. Sorry. Well no not really.
Last week I was MIA since #babybigtruck, my mom, and I jumped on a plane and went to Arizona for the week. We went to visit my moms mom which was nice. It was my frist time meeting her which is a story for another day and maybe one day I will expand on that but for now I will not.
Anyway, like I said last week we were in AZ and it was an adventure right off the bat. Traveling with a baby/toddler is no joke. Seriously between my mom, the baby and I we had 2 suitcases, 2 carry ons, 2 purses, a travel pack ‘n play, and the carseat. We were quite the spectacle going through the airport. Thank God for the Ergo and the fact that #babybigtruck likes to be in it!
We got to AZ on Saturday the 30th once we got the rental car, packed it up, installed the car seat we were on our way. We stopped for lunch at Applebees and then finished our ride from PHX to Tucson. We were on route 10 minding our own business when all of a sudden a Dodge Dakota pick up truck shot across 5 lanes of traffic amazingly NOT hitting any other cars but SLAMMED into the exit ramp wall 3 times. We stopped I hopped out and ran over. A few other people stopped too however I was the only one to call 911. It was crazy. The poor guy who was driving the truck must have had a seizure or something because when I got to him he was shaking uncontrollably and was not responsive. Finally he started to come around and was able to talk a bit. The emergency crews got there and got him out and off to the hospital. The cops asked me to fill out a witness report as apparently I was the only one who stopped who saw what happened and called 911. The cop told me that the driver should be fine which I was really happy to hear. We finally got to my moms moms house and we just relaxed for a bit before we set out to the store to pick up some odds and ends we needed like diapers.
Most of the week consisted of daily morning walks for mom, #babybigtruck and I. On Sunday we went to church and then the church wide family picnic which was nice. I also got to sneak away to get my nails done and a much needed pedi.
Monday mom, #babybigtruck, and I went to check out some of the model houses that mom and Ray are thinking about buying when they retire. The houses are GORGEOUS and I can not wait till they get it. Hello vacation home! While we were out and about we hit up a outlet mall and I was able to find #babybigtruck her first pair of Nikes. Oh my they are stinking adorable! Mom also got her a pair of light up Sketchers. She also scored some new summer clothes. Stinker. Mom and I also scored some good deals on shirts which we both needed and I got a new pair of sneakers as well!
Tuesday we meet up with some family friends and went to the mall to walk around and had lunch. I found some cute little ornaments for Christmas at Hallmark for a whopping dollar. Needless to say I picked those bad boys up too.
Wednesday we went to the Zoo. It was so much fun. We went nice and early when they opened since it was the coolest part of the day. We spent the entire morning there which was perfect. We got ride a camel and see a baby elephant. When we got back to the house I put #babybigtruck down for a nap and I wound up laying down myself. #babybigtruck slept for almost 3 hours and I even wound up sleeping for a solid 2 hours which NEVER happens. It felt great!
Thursday we meet up with family friends again but this time at their house. We walked around their backyard which was really nice since they did a lot of work to it. We also did a 4 generations photo. I have not seen it yet but I am sure it came out nice.
Friday we laid low and just hung out at the house and packed up. We had to get up early on Saturday to set out for the airport to come home.
Overall it was a good trip. It was nice to meet my moms mom and get away with my mom and #babybigtruck for the week.
