So I know I have spoke about how #babybigtruck has been through the ringer with being sick since basically January. To refresh I spoke about it here, here, and here among other posts. Well I can finally say I think key word think we have finally come to the end of it! Last Monday June 15th #babybigtruck had tubes put in her ears. I have to say I am so so happy we moved forward with the decision. Let me also just throw this out there this was a decision we did not take lightly and we prayed about and consulted our doctor about for quite some time.
Quick recap? Well everything started back in January when she got sick. She started to fight a chronic ear infection that lasted 6 months and after 5 rounds of antibiotics the decision to put the tubes in was the perfect decision for us.
Last Monday the procedure was done and when the doctor came in seriously 10 minutes after they took her back to tell us what happened it just reaffirmed that we made the right decision. We came to find out that #babybigtruck did great through the procedure however she had a raging ear infection in her right ear and she had some fluid build up in her left. Poor thing. Our doctor said she went right to sleep without any issues and that she may me cranky for most of the day until she sleeps off the anesthesia. After the doctor left I could hear #babybigtruck coming down the hall as she was carried by the nurse. She sounded so pitiful. It took a good 20 minutes in the room to get her to calm down enough to take some juice and once she did and she kept it down we were free to leave. We had to be at the surgical center at 6:15am and no joke by 9am we were in the car on our way home.
When we got home Mr. Big Truck had to go take care of some stuff for his new job and that left #babybigtruck and I to fend for ourselves. Well, #babybigtruck was BEAR. She was a crank pot and a half. I let her just do her thing and drink what she wanted and let her nap when she wanted. By 2:30-ish she was back to her normal self and you wouldn’t have known she had anything done.
Even as I sit here a week later and think about how things have been I can honestly say it was THE BEST decision for us. #babybigtruck was never a bad sleeper. She always slept and IF she got up it was for about 20 minutes. An hour on a “bad” night. I can honestly say I never had a really bad bad night where we were up for hours on end. Thank God. However I have noticed that since she had the procedure done she goes to bed at her normal 7:15/7:30pm time and she sleeps all night and thankfully there are no more 2am-ish calls anymore. Thinking about it now I have come to the conclusion that she was only waking up because her ears were bothering her. Poor monkey.
We are still on breathing treatments right now and we are finishing up a 10 day course of ear drops but I am hopeful that we have finally come to the end of the antibiotic days! Thank you God!
