And just like that our toddler is now in swim lessons.
Yup Mr. Big Truck and I had been talking about how we wanted to make sure that she grows up respecting the water and knowing how to swim especially since we spend so much time at the lake in the summer. We decided to be proactive about it and enrolled her in swim classes at an early age.
After doing some research we settled on taking her to where I used to go to the gym. They were the best bang for the buck and I have heard great things from friends who have taken their kids there in the past. Also one of the kids in her class at school was also enrolled for the same swim class.
Her first class was this past Saturday and she had a blast! When we first got in the pool the teacher went over what we would be doing over the next 10 weeks. The purpose of the class is to get the kids comfortable in the water and start to get them to kick, splash and put their face in the water along with start to teach them how to roll from front to back. They would also start to learn how to get in and out of the pool with help from mom and dad.
From the minute we got in the pool #babybigtruck had a big ol smile on her face. She was splashing and squealing the whole time. She loved sitting on the edge of the pool and counting to three and “jumping” in. She also got to start to kick her legs although she only managed to kick her left leg. Silly monkey. She also got to float around on dumbbell looking float and kick her legs and use her arms to “swim.” It really is amazing how she took right to the motions. Overall it was a great first class and I can not wait to see her progression throughout the next 9 weeks.
