I started on my healthy lifestyle journey many years ago and while it has been one of the best things I have done for myself it is also something I try to instill on my family.
That is me when I graduated high school pushing 200 pounds.
Mr. Big Truck and I have been together now for over 2 years and since we got together we have become healthier as a team. We both value healthy living and make it a point to live a 80/20 lifestyle. 80% of the time we chose to eat as healthy as possible however we do have our splurges from time to time. Enter the 20%. This lifestyle works for us. Even now as our family is growing we continue to live this way and to us it is a non-negotiable. We want to make sure that #babybigtruck and any future baby or babies have a healthy view on a healthy lifestyle.
What does this mean for us?
It means that we will cook dinner at home more often than we will eat out. We enjoy going to dinner as a family and Mr. Big Truck and I enjoy our date nights. We however choose to only go out 1 or 2 times at most during the week. We also tend to keep our nights outs to weekends so we are not rushed and we can enjoy ourselves.
It means that 4 out of 5 days a week we are both packing our lunches. Most days I will bring either a salad with some kind of protein with me and he will typically bring some kind of sandwich made with all natural cold cuts. We both eat a lot of fruits and veggies throughout the day as snacks. Right now it means that #babybigtruck gets a healthy lunch from school that I have every say in what it is. She also will eat fruit as her snacks at home. It also means that we all have a homemade breakfast every morning.
It means that everyday we are physical. Everyday at school #babybigtruck gets to go outside and play on the playground two times a day. It means from the fall through the middle of the spring #babybigtruck is in her gymnastics class. It means during the week I sneak in mini workouts whenever and where ever I can. That means I will do squats in the bathroom at work, I will do BodyPump or kettlebells at home. That means we will all go for a family walk when we have the time and the weather is nice. We fit in fitness when we can. It is not an option.
It means that water is not an option. We all drink water like it is going out of style. I have water bottles at work with me everyday and as I drink them I constantly refill them. Mr. Big Truck also has a ton of water during the day. #babybigtruck sucks down her milk and water like it is no ones business. We all also drink rehydrate and love it.
Most nights we are in bed by 9pm. 10 at the absolute latest. #babybigtruck goes to bed between 7 and 7:30pm so that leaves us a little time in the evening for us to unwind and spend some quality time together before we go to bed. We are up by 5am so we try to get 7-8 hours of sleep a night. #babybigtruck gets up at 5:30am so it is important that she gets enough sleep too.
My family gives me the motivation to be the best version of myself and being as healthy as possible is the only way that is going to happen. I hope and pray that by being the example to #babybigtruck and our future children that they will want to always live a healthy life as well.
