Summer Staycation #1

Hey friends!

I know I have been a bit MIA but I have good reason. Last week I was on vacation. While I was on vacation from work I did not actually go anywhere and ya know what it was great! The week went fast and I got a lot done and I got to catch up with friends and family and in reality that is all that matters.

We kicked things off on Saturday the 18th. Saturday morning #babybigtruck has swim lessons. After swim we came home and legit did not a darn thing until it was time for our date night. Mr. Big Truck and I went to the Tim McGraw concert and we had a blast! #babybigtruck got to kick it with her favorite teacher and it was a success all around.

Sunday the 19th after church we had plans to go to Laurita Winery for their food truck festival. Bill and Ali meet us there. It was a good time however it was so stinkin hot and humid. We tried to hang out in the shade but even there it was gross. #babybigtruck got to play on the playground and bounce house for a bit but then we wound up goin inside for a bit then called it an early day. We were stalking their website and saw that they are doing it again in the fall and we are gonna go back then and hopefully it will be a little cooler. On our way home we stopped by our friends house for a bit. They were surprisingly home and we were excited to see them. We hung out by their pool for a bit. We were not planning to stop there when we left our house in the morning so I did not have a swim diaper or swim suit with me for #babybigtruck so I stripped her down to her diaper and let her have at it. She went in the pool and I have never seen a diaper so swollen as I did that day. I will say that I was super impressed with Pampers though!

Monday the 20th #babybigtruck went to school and I got to hang out with my sister-in-law Erin and her two kids. Her oldest just turned 3 this past Sunday and her youngest was born July 3rd. We got to hang out and go to lunch and then ran a few errands.

Tuesday the 21st again #babybigtruck went to school. Ali came up to the house and we got to work. It was overhaul Nikki’s closet day. It was a long time coming. I have been wanting to go through my clothes get rid of things I don’t wear and donate donate donate. I managed to get rid of 3 bags worth of clothes and accessories. Ali actually took them all home with her to donate to the base. We also did our standard Target run which was successful seeing how we picked up a bunch of things to organize my closet. No Target run is complete without a picture of us up to no good sent to Mr. Big Truck.

Wednesday morning #babybigtruck and I packed up and set our for the lake. We spent the day with my dad and got to go for a nice little boat ride. #babybigtruck fell asleep while we were out which did no surprise me. When we got back to the house we were just sitting on the boat relaxing and #babybigtruck was running back and forth from the front to the back and as she would pass the helm stand my dad would honk the horn and scare the bejesus outta her. I have to say I laughed everytime he did it. The first few times she really got caught off guard and then she caught on to his game and would still jump as he honked but then she would laugh and antagonize him to do it again. So funny!

We stayed the night and then hung out all morning with Dad and Molly Thursday. Little Molly came over with her cousins and the kids played in the water for a bit. After lunch someone was tired so I figured it was a good time to call it a day and head home. I called my mother in law on our way home and asked her to come over later that afternoon to hang out with #babybigtruck and have dinner with us.

Friday morning #babybigtruck and I got up and out of the house early as she had a hearing test and her 6 week post opp tubes check up. Thankfully she passed her test and we were told that everything looked great and that unless there were any drainage that we did not have to come back for 6 months! Praise the Lord! After her appointment and a nap we went to our friends house to go swimming for a bit. #babybigtruck got to hang out with all the kids I used to babysit for. It really is mind-blowing that now they are all old enough to watch her! Crazy!

Saturday morning we got up and went to swim class as we usually do. After swim we got cleaned up and went down to Aunt Ali and Uncle Bills house for a surprise congratulations on your promotion party for Uncle Bill. #babybigtruck was the hit of the party. Girlfriend went up and welcomed EVERYONE who came in. While we were down there we got to roam around the field behind their house and went to the playground. It was a great afternoon and evening!

Because summer evenings are meant for naked babies!

Sunday morning we got up and were lazy until it was time to go to church. After church we set out for the Hot Air Balloon Fest. It was a fun day. We well #babybigtruck got to go on some rides and on her first pony ride! We walked around and hung out. Judy, Erik and the kids meet us there and we all got to hang out together. Sadly it was too windy for the balloons to take off that evening but they did blow them up!

Overall it was a great week. Busy but great. I have another stay-cation coming up in August and I am sure it will be busy and filled with friends and family again!

And because I do not remember what morning I snapped this photo I will add it here. I just love the bond these two have!

  Hugs, Nikki
