Easter 2016

Happy Monday Friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. I know we did! I was going to do a full weekend recap and then I thought to myself why not do just an Easter recap and then a weekend recap tomorrow so that my friends is what I shall do.

Yesterday was Easter or as I like to call it Resurrection Sunday! The day we celebrate Jesus defeating the grave.

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Matthew 28:6

Our Easter was filled with Jesus, family, and laughter.

In the morning Mike #babybigtruck and I set out for church to celebrate our Risen King. After church we had plans to go to our sister-in-laws house for an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids. As we were leaving church Mike’s phone started to ring. It was his boss. He got called into work for that evening and Monday. Our plans needed to change on the fly which wasn’t a huge issue. We ran home so Mike could get his truck and his clothes and then went to our sister in laws. Once we got there we visited with our other sister-in-law and Mikes brother along with his mom. All the kids -5 in total who range in age from 8 months to 14- got to play for a bit which is nice because they don’t all get to see each other all that often.

Erin, my sister-in-law set up the egg hunt in her back yard and it was super easy as it was geared more toward the little guys. All the kids eggs were color coded for them as well. Friday her and I stuffed the eggs and our girls decorated bags for all the kids to use to collect them.

Once everyone was at Erin’s house we set the kids free.

I let the older kids go ahead of #babybigtruck and get their eggs this way I didn’t have to worry about her picking up eggs that were not hers. She had a ball “finding” the eggs and putting them in her bag.

After all the eggs were collected we went in and checked out our loot! One of the things I picked up for the kids were punch balloons and let me tell you they were a huge hit!

We hung out for a while and set out for my moms about 1ish. I wanted to make sure we got there with some time for Mike to relax a bit before he went to work and so I had some time to put a plate of food together for him to take with him.

After dinner we hug out at my moms for a little while and we were on our way home by 6pm. I had to get stuff together for today and I wanted to give #babybigtruck some time to relax and unwind from the days activity.

Overall it was a wonderful day celebrating with our family.

  Hugs, Nikki

It sounds like it was a great day for sure! And, you and your husband and the munchkin going to Church on Easter Sunday reminded me of something a Deacon I used to know once said: with children, if they can’t remember the first time they darkened the door of a church, they’ll be churchgoers for life. Clearly raising her right!

Thank you! Proverbs 22:6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. It’s one of our life verses for her!

The Jesuits have been operating schools since the 17th century. I recall that they have a saying that echoes the proverb: “Give me the child when he is seven, and I will show you the man”.
