Weekend Recap

So this past weekend as we all know was a long weekend. A long holiday weekend that I kicked off with a much needed massage! IMG_6360

#babybigtruck and Mike kicked it at home while I was there.

After my massage I went home and got myself together for the day. #babybigtruck and I had plans to go to my sister-in-law Erin’s house. We got there and Erin’s older daughter Thing 1 immediately greeted us with non-stop chatter. Thing 2 on the other hand was in her own little world. Oh to be a 8 month old without a care in the world again.

Thing 1 and #babybigtruck are a little over a year apart and they play nicely together. Erin and I try to get them together as often as our schedules let us and lets be real we are both working mamas with packed schedules to begin with so we don’t get them together as much as we would like.

Friday’s plan was to stuff the eggs for the egg hunt, color eggs, decorate a cake, and just hang out and let the girls play. Mission accomplished!

Erin and I stuffed the eggs for the egg hunt while the girls played nicely in the play room. Once the eggs were stuffed we let the decorate paper bags that Erin so smartly color coordinated for the eggs.

Erin’s Mom and Gramma came up and then chaos ensued. We started with coloring eggs. I have to admit I was not going to even attempt to color eggs with #babybigtruck this year because she is still so young and I didn’t think she would be all that into it. As expected I was right. I did manage to get her to get into it enough to color one egg. I think the waiting was something she did not like. I’m with ya kid!

After we were done with the eggs Erin’s mom needed help with frosting a cake and decorating it. I volunteered to do the frosting and then the kids decorated it.

How cute is that?

From Erin’s #babybigtruck and I went to pick up my Mom and go to the grocery store to get stuff for Easter dinner. We wound up staying by my Moms for dinner and then called it a day.

Saturday rolled around and we were up and out early. Mike, #babybigtruck and I went out to breakfast together at one of our favorite places Turning Point then we went back to my Moms. Mom and Ray were having some trees taken down in the yard and wanted Mike to be at the house to help with that. While that was going on #babybigtruck got to play on the ATV with Papa and I.

Because that was not enough ATV ridin she had to get some ridin done with just me.

And then she got some ridin in with her Daddy.IMG_6401

That girl was on the ATV for HOURS. She loved ever second of it too. She tried to get some solo ridin in but failed. I am sure it is just a matter of time before her Daddy and Papa get her her own mini ATV to learn how to ride.

I was the mean Mama who made her come in after ATV ridin to have lunch and then to take a little “rest” which ended up in her falling asleep on the couch for almost 2 hours.

Papa almost derailed the whole “rest/nap” to which this Mama would have killed him. He and I were sitting in the office while she was laying on the couch drinking her milk and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Papa thought it would be a good idea to remind #babybigtruck about one of the toys in the office. Once he started to try to show her I basically had to yell at him and tell him to leave her alone she NEEDED to take nap. Good try Papa. Good Try.

After nap it was operation go out and play on the swing set time.

We have apparently graduated from the baby swing to the big girl swing because we are a big girl now. We also swung on the glider together.

We were seriously outside ALL day on Saturday and it was great!

Sunday was Easter and you can check out that post here.

  Hugs, Nikki

Saturday sounds like it was such a fun and active day! Love days like that! And I’m glad she dyed at least one egg just for tradition sake. 😉 I bet next year she will really be into it!

YES days like this past Saturday is what life is all about! I would much rather her be outside playing in the fresh air than sitting inside glued to the TV or any other form of technology anytime! I was hoping I could get her to do one egg for exactly that tradition sake! Heres to hoping next year she is more into it.

Giving them an open air life – can’t do any better than that!

For real though! I would spend all day everyday outside if I had my way and so would she. Monday night I got home with her and she had a fit that we couldn’t play outside.
