Well I have totally dropped the ball on recapping #babybigtrucks 2nd birthday party. Way to go me! Part of the reason is because all the photos are on my home computer and the other reason is because I was away last week. Lo and behold here I am with a recap post today!
May 7th we celebrated #babybigtruck turning 2 by having a Sesame Street themed party. Someone has been really into Elmo lately and I have no clue how that happened because she does not watch Sesame Street at home go figure.
I picked up all the decorations at Whole Sale Party Supplies. Once we got all the decorations up we waited for everyone to arrive. We wound up having my mom and Ray, Mikes mom, Mikes brother Frank, Mikes brother Jim and his wife and kids, #babybigtrucks boyfriend and his mom and dad all at the party. My brother and his kids along with Franks wife and kids sadly did not make it. We decided early on that this year we were going to keep the party pretty small and simple. We had burgers and dogs along with pulled BBQ chicken, chips and dip and cake.
The weather was calling for rain and overcast skies all day and thankfully by mid afternoon the sun came out to play! The kids had a ball playing on the swing set and when the sun came out I pulled out the ATV and took them for a ride on that as well.
After we had dinner we all went in the house to do cake, pinata, and presents! #babybigruck received a bunch of summer clothes and a few new toys. I am so glad she did not get an over abundance of toys as she already has more toys than she knows what to do with.
Before we knew it it was 6:30pm and people started to head home. We said goodbye and thank you for coming and then had the daunting task of cleaning up moms house. It’s amazing how even for a small party we were left with a decent sized mess.
Next year Michael and I have already decided that we will again keep it small and do either pizza and cake or sandwich platters and cake and call it a day. We plan to keep things as simple and small as possible for as long as possible. I know it is just a matter of time before #babybigtruck is asking to have a big kid party somewhere with all her little friends. Until then we are more than happy with a small family and super close friends party.
