Migraines when you are not pregnant are one thing. Migraines when you are pregnant are a beast of another nature.
Monday night I went to bible study as usual and I had a headache but didn’t think too much of it. I was able to get through the night and go home and go to bed. By midnight I was up in bed in tears in pain. Poor Mike had no clue what was going on. I took some Tylenol because that’s really the only thing a pregnant woman can take and it took the edge off just enough for me to fall asleep.
Tuesday morning my alarm went off I got up got #babybigtruck ready for the day took her to school and went to work as I normally would. I got to work and within 20 minutes I told my boss I couldn’t function anymore. Ray walked me down to my truck and apparently drove me home. I have no recollection of that what so ever. When I got home Mike said we had a OB appointment at 9:30am. We got there and I was in such bad shape that I couldn’t take my hands off my eyes. They wound up sending me to the hospital to get some help. I got 2 shots of toroidal and was released. I went home and passed out for the rest of the day. I got up long enough to go with Mike to pick up #babybigtruck from school and I only did that because it was picture day and I needed to order her photos which came out great! I thought I was feeling somewhat better so I tried to eat a small snack and drink some water which wound up not being a good idea because 5 minutes after we left the house it all came back up. Fun times. When we got home and I went back to bed.
Wednesday morning I got up and decided I was going to stay home again because I still had a bad headache. My mom ended up staying at the house with me and #babybigtruck so she would be able to help me if I needed it and she would be able to take #babybigtruck to school for me if I wasn’t feeling well still since Mike was working the overnight shift. When I got up I tried to sip some ice-cold water but every time I did that I felt like I was going to throw up so I quickly stopped. By 10am wish Mike had gotten up from a nap he called the OB again and they sent us back to the hospital so I could get some IV therapy. I wound up getting 2 bags of fluids and 3 different meds and then they sent me on my way home. I went home and passed out for the rest of the day again. My mom thankfully picked up #babybigtruck from school and when they got home my headache was doing a lot better. I was able to eat and drink which was great!
Thursday morning rolled around and my migraine was gone thankfully! I was still out of it and felt off and shaky. I wound up staying home again just to completely recover. I was able to eat and drink as usual which was great and now here we are Friday morning and I feel back to normal.
I suffer from migraines maybe once a year. To be honest I had my sister-in-law who happens to work at my doctor’s office to check the last time I had one and it was TWO years ago so yeah thankfully I do not get them often. I feel bad for all of those who suffer from them on a more regular basis than I do. It is not something that is fun to deal with. Being pregnant and dealing with them is even worse. Hopefully I will not have to worry about that again for at least another year.
