Happy Monday Friends.
Hope everyone had a great week last week and a great weekend. I wound up taking an unplanned almost week off from blogging. I wanted to write but life happened and with it being September and back to everything time of the year it’s been a bit hectic. I have stepped up as one of the AWANA Commanders at church along with my friend Daniela -yes the girl I ran VBS with- the kids came back this past Thursday and it was as expected a hectic night. This Thursday should run a lot smoother. Monday night ladies bible study also started up again this past Monday. We are working through a book called Twelve Extraordinary Women by John MacArthur. It’ looks like it is going to be an interesting study so I am excited to really dig into this.
Here we are facing Monday morning of a new week and I am back at it. This past weekend was a busy one.
Saturday we went to a street fair with some friends for a bit and then we went to our nieces birthday party. It was a fun family day.
#babybigtruck decided that she did not need to use a fork to eat her cupcake nor did she need to pick it up because clearly it is easier to just shove your face into the cupcake. That’s my girl!
We also stopped at Target this weekend and let #babybigtruck pick out some undies.
It was clearly a hard decision. She ended up picking the Finding Dory pack. I want to try putting her in the undies to potty train. Girlfriend does not like being wet and we seriously change her diaper/pull up what feels like every 20-ish minutes because she wets them. Yesterday she had on her undies and had 2 accidents within 35 minutes. She did not like the feeling of wet undies either. I have a feeling it may click for her sooner than later.
Sunday we had to take an unexpected trip to the ER with #babybigtruck. We had another nurse maid elbow fiasco. Poor thing has had this happen to her like 3 or 4 times now so we are sadly used to it. It is painful for her when it happens but thankfully once she gets her elbow set within about 5 to 10 minutes she starts using her arm again and you would never know there was a problem. What is nurse maid elbow you ask? Basically her elbow pops out of its socket because the tendons around it are not tight enough to hold it in. It is common in kids her age and they usually grow out of it between 3 and 6 years old. Thankfully there are no long-term effects from it as well. It’s more a matter of annoyance and pain for her than anything else. Thankfully we were seriously in and out of the ER in under an hour because it was quiet there and we knew exactly what we were dealing with. Seriously it was the fastest ER experience ever!
After the ER we went by my moms for a bit. My brother and his kids were there and we all hung out and had dinner together. It was a nice Sunday afternoon.
In other news, I have started to look around for a Halloween costume for her. I do not want to spend an arm and a leg on a costume either. I happened to be on Zulily the other day and came across a cute Doc McStuffins costume.
I did not get it yet but I thought it was cute. I am also kicking around the idea of Minnie Mouse as she loves Minnie. We shall see.
I also have started Christmas shopping! I figured with having #babybigtruck2 so close to Christmas that trying to get as much of it done BEFORE she makes her appearance is probably the best option. I have a good amount done thus far and I have ideas for other gifts I need to get. #babybigtruck isn’t getting much this year as we are going to Disney which is her big present. I do want to get her a bed in a bag set for her bed and a wooden puzzle of her name to help her learn how to spell it. Mike has an idea of getting her a teeter totter as well. That should pretty much round out Christmas gifts for her.
Mike has been going through an extensive interview/job application process lately and we are both very encouraged with how quickly things have been moving. We are praying this is where God wants him and that it is a good fit for him. Yesterday I was helping him fill out this online background check and we got stuck at this one point where we couldn’t move to the next section. Well this morning I called the company that is doing the background check and it was a super easy fix. After switching from Safari to Chrome we were able to finish the application and submit it. Now we need to fax in some paperwork and then we wait till we hear back. We are praying that we hear back quickly as we have thus far with the everything in the process.
I think that basically brings us up to date on whats been going on with us. Hopefully this week as things settle down and we get into our weekly routine will allow for me to blog on a regular basis. If not soon enough it will happen. Hope y’all have a great day!
