Christmas recap on the last day of January? Sure why not! Better late than never right?
Even though the girls and I were technically living at my moms house at Christmas time we made the best of the situation and enjoyed as much as we could together as a family. It all started on Thanksgiving after dinner when we put up our Christmas Tree. We have always put the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving but with Mike’s work schedule we had to make a little adjustment. Mike and the girls assembled the tree and then I fluffed it and we all decorated it together.
December 23rd we had decided that we would celebrate Christmas together as Mike had to work Christmas Eve night and that is typically when we open presents with my side of the family. When #babybigtruck came out and saw all the presents under the tree she light up with delight. It was really the best thing to watch! This was the first year that she really knew what was going on.
#babybigtruck2 was still rather clueless as to what was going on but was happy enough to to open presents and play with all the new toys.
Christmas Eve this year was at my moms house as per the usual. My mother-in-law joined us as she usually does. Sadly my brother was really sick and ended up going to the ER because of it. We did get to exchange gifts with him and the kids before he went and before everyone went home. The girls were spoiled and they loved ever minute of it.
Christmas morning Mike, the girls and I went to my brother in laws to do Christmas with Mikes side of the family then the girls and I went to my uncles house for dinner since Mike had to go home and sleep because he had to work that night.
So while Christmas seemed to last literally for days we made the best of it and adapted. Hopefully this Christmas we can be in FL to celebrate with my dad and Molly! Wishful thinking right?!
